The Peckett is now off on hire in North Tyneside.

Here are just a few more pictures from yesterday.

Raising steam mid morning. The piece of pipe on top of the locomotives chimney helps to draw the fire when raising steam.

The building fills with steam as the boiler inspector checks the Pecketts safety valves go off at the correct pressure.

The first time the Peckett has moved under its own power on the new bearings.

More Peckett Progress

October 18, 2013
Yesterday night we had another evening work party and here is what we did,


The Peckett was pushed outside the good shed, ready for use to wash out the boiler,


Getting ready to wash out the boiler using a power washer, hosepipe and a long handled and narrow rake.


One of our volunteers Richard gets to grips with washing out the boiler,


After the wash out was complete the Peckett was put back in the shed and then we took the opportunity to fit one of the new buffer extensions to the locomotive.

Peckett Progress

October 15, 2013
So work continues on Northern Gas Board Number One, we now have the locomotive back on its wheels as seem below,







Above is the front of the Peckett about to have the smoke box and tubes cleaned ready for a visit by the boiler inspector,
